Sentry Care is committed to safeguarding the healthcare of your loved one.  We take the performance and competency of all nurses that are available to you very seriously.  All private duty nurses are personally bonded and covered with professional liability and medical malpractice insurance as mandated by law.

Every Sentry Care private duty nurse must pass the following screening and credentialing procedures upon hire and annually as warranted.
  • Proof of a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the area of expertise.
  • Completed, successful reference check.
  • License verification with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Extensive criminal background check with an independent company.
  • Verification of social security number and compliance with applicable immigration laws to include current I-9 documentation.
  • OIG sanction check.
  • 10 panel urine drug screen.
  • Specialty area competency examination.
  • Medication dosage calculation examination.
  • Completed competency skills check list.
  • HIPAA competency education and examination.
  • Annual in service education in fire, safety, and infection control.
  • JCAHO compliance to include National Patient Safety Goals, Use of Restraints, Pain Management, Age Specification Competency, and Culture/Religion Specific Competency.
  • Annual performance evaluations are prepared based on the input from other nurses, patients, and contracted customers.
  • Physical examination or signed physician statement is required at least once per year.
  • Negative TB skin test results, or proof of a negative chest X-ray if skin test is positive.
  • Proof of immunity to Rubella, Rubeola, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
